Expert Pool Opening Tips

Ah, pool season is finally here. Gone are the days of cold; these are the carefree days of summer. With the beginning of pool season, though, comes pool opening. It may not be as fun as swimming, but don’t keep putting it off and cut into your pool season. Follow these 4 expert pool opening tips to make things easier all swim season long.

Clean Off Your Pool Cover.

Before you can even think about what’s underneath it, you need to clean off your pool cover. After a long winter, it’s likely your pool cover has some debris and water piled up on top of it. It may be tempting to just try to pull the cover off—don’t! You don’t want any of that stuff getting into your pool. Plus, it’s a lot heavier than it looks. So, take some time. Clean off the debris. Pump off the water. Give it some time for the rest of the water to evaporate. Then, take off the cover and start working on what’s underneath.

Get Everything in Order.

While you’re waiting for water to finish evaporating, you can still be prepping your pool. Make sure you have everything ready to open your pool. Do you have all of the chemicals you need? What about all of the parts that were removed when you winterized your pool? There’s nothing more disappointing than getting all ready to open your pool, and then realizing you’re missing something. Take advantage of this time to make sure you’re all set. And if you’re missing something, you can always shop online.

Put it all Together.

Now that your cover is ready to come off and you have everything in order, it’s time to finish opening your pool. You probably know that you need to fill up your pool and treat it with chemicals in order to open it. But, we have an expert tip for you. Before you fill your pool, check and double-check that everything is put together correctly. Make sure all of the winterizing plugs have been removed, and that what’s supposed to go there has taken its place. You don’t want to find out that you forgot to replace one of those plugs after your pool is full of water.
