Between the pandemic and the harsh Hudson Valley winter, you could probably use a rejuvenating spa getaway like never before. You could schedule a spa visit … but creating a restful retreat at home would be even better! When you’re stressed out, who wants to wait for an appointment to relax? Instead, create a space at home that’s just as inviting as a day spa and you can treat yourself anytime you want.
Get the Goods
What’s your go-to spa feature that must be a part of any relaxing spa day? We bet there’s a way to recreate that feature in your home. Here are some ideas. We’ve included 3 options (Gold, Silver, & Bronze) so there are options for every home and budget!
Massage
Gold – For the ultimate home massage, you’ve got to have an Infinity Massage Chair! It’s the #1 premium massage chair in the U.S, and when you sit in one and experience zero = gravity reclining with a full body massage, you’ll understand why! To see one of these luxurious chairs in person, drop by our Mohegan Lake store.
Silver – Sneak out to the backyard for a hot tub soak! The warm water plus those massaging jets will ease sore muscles and relax you from head to toe.
Bronze – Bribe a family member to be your masseuse for half an hour. We can’t guarantee the quality of this massage, but even a short back or foot rub can work wonders.
Steam Room
Gold – If you love hitting the sauna, it may be time for a private sauna of your own! Our Clearlight™ Saunas by Jacuzzi® offer all the same relaxation and health benefits in an eco-friendly, streamlined design home model. And you don’t have to give up a lot of space in your home or take on a major construction project, either. Clearlight saunas range in size from 1-5 people and are simple to install.
Silver – Here comes your hot tub to save the day again! Spa soaks offer many of the same benefits as saunas: they increase heart rate and circulation, ease pain, lower stress, and bring about serious relaxation. In fact, both hot tubs and saunas have been shown to lower cortisol levels.
Bronze – Indulge in a nice long bath. It might seem like a steamy shower would provide benefits similar to a sauna, but studies have shown that baths are better. Compared to a shower, a bath is more stress-relieving and health-boosting.
Set the Vibe
Sure the pampering is the best part of going to a day spa, but the atmosphere is part of the experience. When you’re in serious need of relaxation, you want to set a vibe that tells your subconscious that it’s time to stop thinking about work, family, and your to-do list. Something that says, “Ah, it’s relaxation time.”
We recommend lighting candles or reaching for some aromatherapy products. Lavender, peppermint, ylang-ylang, or citrus scents are all commonly found at spas. You can even use aromatherapy scents in your hot tub! Just make sure you only use hot tub-approved aromatherapy products.
A nice relaxing playlist can help set the vibe, too. Spotify® and Pandora® both offer relaxing playlists/stations if you don’t want to take the time to create your own.
There’s just one last thing: hang the do-not-disturb sign and enjoy some uninterrupted self-care!
